On October 7, 2020, Brazil's National Health Supervision Agency (ANVISA) issued an approval of the new version of the pre-packaged food nutrition labeling standards and regulations. The content mainly includes:
1. Stipulate that pre-packaged foods must be marked with a magnifying glass in front of the three types of nutrients (sugar, saturated fat and sodium) in the nutrition label according to the legend, so that consumers can quickly understand the nutritional information of the product;
2. Stipulate that the text of the nutrient composition table can only be black, and the background of the table must be white to reduce interference to consumers;
3. Stipulate that the content of total sugar and added sugar per 100 mL (mg) and the comparative nutritional value must be indicated in the nutrition fact, and the specific content of each food should be indicated by serving;
4. Revise the terms of some nutrition claims and the corresponding nutrient content requirements.
The regulation took effect 24 months after its publication in the Government Gazette
